In the beginning of my career as a Psychologist, marketing to me meant having a snazzy logo and putting onto my equally snazzy website. It took exactly 30 minutes on my first day in the stunning consulting room I'd rented, to realise that I didn't have anyone booked into the diary. Although mum, sis and my boyfriend de jour all told me how great it was, it clearly wasn't working.

That's when the panic set in which was closely followed by a mad scramble to get my practice listed on every directory known to man. Exhausted by the end of it all, and after countless refreshes of my computer screen later, nothing had changed. 

The confusion, frustration, stress and shame I felt were very real. I didn't want anyone to know I was struggling to get clients, especially after how supportive they'd all been when I was first setting the business up. How could I let them down like that?

Maybe it was eldest child syndrome although in hindsight, it was probably more the autism and adhd, but whatever it was, I became obsessed with figuring out how to get clients from my website and socials. Once I'd figured it out, I promised myself that I'd help other therapists with theirs.
